I finished my management final this past week and I got an A!!
hoorah! unfortunatly that A cost me quite a bit of my summer, so I'm taking my summer back as of today!! In fact I've already started up work again on a skirt and coming up with some fresh designs and ideas for a future collection♥

Yesterday I was peeking through my fabric stash and I realized I have a lot.. and I mean A LOT of fabric! jaja I need to really get on the ball and start sewing! it's kinda funny even though I have alot of fabric I still cant get over the fabric I recently bought last month. It's just been sitting pretty on my shelf and I'm just dying to make a skirt with it!I've even doodled a couple of designs here and there but nothing for sure just yet. The print is so lovely and I dont want to take too much away from it's natural beauty, so I'm leaning towards more of a simple design with some defined pleats and a little bit of tulle peaking out would defintly bring out the print.

for now I'm gonna head off and hit the hay! ;-D

This past week has been super fun! I spent Tuesday afternoon at the beach, it was such perfect weather for collecting seashells, attempting sand castles, and splashing around. It was so fun and I just love South Padre Island and I can’t wait to go back again!

I also got this adorable vintage linen which I am just wild about! Jeje Every time I go out shopping I come back with fabric!It’s actually a bit of a bad habit of mine but I just fell in love with the print I’ll admit usually I’m not that big of a fan of green fabrics but this print is just way too darling! dots x flowers x ribbons! How could I resist?

Summer excitement

I'm baaaaaack and just in time for summer jeje
Hate to admit it but I haven’t been on for a while because of my heavy schedule.
It may sound weird but when it comes to my classes, I take them very seriously! jaja
I feel like such a nerd! Thankfully I passed Accounting! Though sadly not business calculus it looks like I'll be making up hours during Summer II.

Anyways I'm so glad that summer is almost here!!
I promised myself that this summer I'd get back in shape~
It’s kind of embarrassing but I've gained so much weight this past year
Hopefully I’ll be strong enough to change bad eating habits, and really start working out! I’d just love to be a size 5-6 again.

Aside from fitness, I’d like to dedicate myself to my designs and really get back into the sewing groove, more importantly I’d really like to get more involved and get a small spot at the next local Artwalk.
I can already imagine it: Lolita designs by VM ahhh so magical

Btw don’t forget about katherine’s campaign on poupeegirl! It’s still going!

I cant explain how nervous I've been since classes have started!

This semester I'm taking Business Calculus, Accounting, Advertising, and the second part of Geology.
Though I face each class with a "can do" attitude I cant help but feel nervous!! I know this will be a tough semester without a doubt~

I'll admit math has never really been my strong point and even though I feel like a complete wreck I really really really want to do well this semester!!

wish me luck this semester I'll need every bit of support♪!

Although this past christmas was quite the penny pincher it was very special!

My father gave my sister and I the sweetest gifts, and our relatives were so thoughtful.

I was really touched

With money so tight this year we felt so awful we really couldnt afford gifts, so instead we sent delightful homemade rasberry filled cookies! They were shaped like stars, hearts, snowmen, and christmas trees~ so cute and festive!

They were quite a success! of course I do feel bad, my sister was the one who put all her love making them. Honestly I've never been good at cooking, muchless baking!
I mostly watched her make them, and definitely helped in eating the leftover cookies!
I'll definitley have to contribute more next christmas~

Anyways!! Tommorow is New Years Eve and I'm more than excited to be celebrating the start of a new year in Downtown McAllen! this will be Mcallen's very first Annual "Drop the Ball New Year’s Eve Bash" which is completely open to the public! I just cant wait for tommorow!!!

but I've still got a load of work ahead like right now I'm working on resizing a waistband to finish up a skirt, and then I'd like to start up on another matching vest.

I'm also working on making a pair of shorts! unfortuneatly the draft I started up was a bit small~ so I'm adjusting the pattern. I really really really would love to get the shorts done before my vacation comes to an end but only time will tell♪

Alice in Wonderland

Down the rabbit hole we go!

On Dec. 7th I went to see the Alice in Wonderland Play at University of Texas PanAmerican.

When I first sat down I was actually pretty suprised I never expected the play to be so modern!
in both story and costume the play definitly took the cake!
Though I have to admit I was only a little disappointed when I didnt see Alice fully decked out in round skirt with lots of lace, and pinafore.

Dont get me wrong the costumes were beautifully made, aesthetically pleasing, and perfectly edgey for the plays dark but modern twist, not to mention he Audience loved it!

but I'm sure there were some people half expecting to see a familiar (disney-esque) version.

Since I've read Lewis Caroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Through the Looking-Glass before I'm happy to say I was able to follow the story quite easily.

The actors were cute and portayed the characters wonderfully.
My favorite character was Alice, obviously! I'm a big Alice-fan and I think the little lady playing alice worked well.

Other characters that were well loved by the crowd were the pot smoking catepillar, the rapping Humpty Dumpty, and the flamboyant White Queen.

These characters brought smiles and laughs to the crowd, I couldnt help but smile when they were on stage.

the only thing I wish I could have seen were tweedledee and tweedledum.. what can I say? they would have been fun!
I'm usually not one for modern renditions, but this was cute and fun.

At the end of the play the audience is allowed to shake hands meet the cast which is very exciting!
they were so very nice letting me take snaps and whatnot~
amusingly enough the queen was quite friendly in contrast to the role she played, "Off with your head!" and of course even Alice was a sweetheart! she even asked me to get in the pics with the whole cast as crowds snapped away.. but ofcourse I'm not apart of th play thats a no-no on my part ;-P

The play was quirky and entrtaining and no doubt I'd reccommend it to anyone!

I just cant wait for the next play!!

In the spirit of Christmas

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time with their families and friends!
I'm happy to say my christmas has been absolutely wonderful!
I was able to spend time with my family relaxing, watching movies, baking cookies, and eating alot of tamales and menudo.
Although this christmas was much smaller than the past years I stll feel extremely fortunate to be able to spend it with the people I love and care for the most.
Now for aspecial holday reccomendation I'd like to share with you a book I had bought sometime back, it's a small christmas themed poem from the creators of GloomCookie called, A Monster's Christmas.
has anyone read it before?
it's a dark little holiday story about a monster who's always on the naughty list.
This is in no way a story for children! but I enjoyed it so much! and I think others would enjoy it's dark humor, and it's definitly a must read poem for the holiday!

Oh Sunshine!

Lately the weather fluctuates way to quickly for my tastes, one day it's sunny, and chilly the next.

Though I do enjoy sitting in with a cup of coco on chilly days I still wish the sun would just shine on!

There is so much work to be done and it's a waste of day when nothing gets done.

Now with school behind me (for now anyways) I've been able to rest and dedicate my hours and days to sewing♫

So! During my dead days I finished this little cutie and I'm currently working on making more~

when I laid eyes on this fabric I just knew I had to make something with it

Lucky for me I finished this just in time for the Alice play featured at my University!
Speaking of which was quite entertaining! it was very cute and modern~

Cherry Picnic JSK !

These past couple of months have been so crazy!!
good news is I've finally got internet access where I live!
About 5 months ago I moved from the city back to the country, and although I deeply love the countryside there are alot of things that I miss about living in town. For one I cant explain just how difficult it's been to get internet access out here! recently I've managed to get a hold of a pre-paid wireless service through Cricket.. and it's service is acceptional.

On a different note my grades came in some week back and I've been accepted into business school!!Hoorraaay! I cant help but feel giddy~ though I know from this point on it'll only get harder.
I'll have to buckle down and really hit the books these coming semmesters.. which means less time to sew Though I'm sure once I get the hang of things I'll definitly have more time for it<3

Besides that It's been so long since Ive posted and I've really wanted to share the Cherry Picnic JSK I completed back in June~

I'm not sure I'll be putting it up for sale just yet especially since I'd like to debut it out on a runway~ before I let it find a happy home<3

I also started up work on a 2-piece ensemble! which I'll be posting later~

Today I wandered onto egl and I noticed a post asking about crinoline care
& to be honest I'm really suprised! I didnt realize that so many lolitas have been hanging their crinolines! Usually crinoline that are hung will slowly lose their lift and and become very flat in this enviorment. The most important thing to remember when getting a crinoline is that they are not meant to last forever. Of course if you take the utmost of care it can last you quite a while but like all undergarments they do wear and and you should get a new one every couple of months. Think of them in the same way as you would your bras and underwear these things arent meant to last forever!

but aside from that!
This past month I've been working on a bridal commission that had a very tight deadline which pushed back a handful of my designs. Now I'm getting back on track and I've started up again on one of my summer jsks and
I'm still in the works of putting it all together Here's a preview!

This past couple of weeks have been kind of tough especially after I caught a cold. I've slowly recooperated and I'm so happy that I'm pretty much back to my healthy self ♡ Since then I've kept myself busy~ I've sent out a letter to my penpal Haru, gotten plenty of rest, and have been watching lots of Top Chef (I just adore Andrew! He's so talented and shouldnt have been eliminated!) I've also started work on the designs for my latest Jumper Skirts! Right now I'm in the process of working out all the kinks on my muslin, which will help me with get the perfect fit when I'm working with my summer fabrics.

Hello Everyone! I wanted to share my new shop on Etsy with everyone!

Right now the only available garment is the Cottage Garden skirt. It's one of my absolute favorites! When I first came across the fabric I was immediately taken back, I thought to myself this, this would make a beautiful skirt. When it all came together I was extatic, the pattern is so beautiful, so unique, that it needed nothing more; it's a beauty aesthetically. I can't wait to put up more items of mine up on Etsy, having my own little shop, though online, fills me with a sweet kind of happiness I can't explain. This past week the worst thing happened! finals had finally come to an end and so I decided to catch up on some house cleaning.. half way through the middle of doing laundry I found myself feelinging terribly exausted! and before I knew it I started coughing. Of course I didnt think much of it so I continued on with my work. The next morning I couldnt seem to get out of bed! My throat was horribly sore and I was incredibly congested! I went to the clinic on thursday and the doctor told me I had caught a cold. What horrible timing to get sick!

whats worse is they couldnt prescribe me anything, the doctor handed me a pamplet and siad "It's all up to your immune system" I've been miserable since! I've been coughing and sneezing nonstop and I'm always short of breath!I'm so angry! I had plans to clean up and sew all summer long and instead I start the summer off with a cold! Oh the Irony!

On the upside I havent been wasting my time~ Yes I've been resting in hopes of a quick recovery but I've also been working on some designs, and writting some letters that I'd like to send out to my penpal. Right now I'm too scared to sew anything because honestly I'm just a bit clumsy when I'm under the weather.

Also the otherday I went to the store with my sister, we bought some cookies and they are so delicious! thank goodness the illness hasn't completely affected my taste! they are the softest cookies with the yummiest chocolate! and inside oh my goodness~ inside they have rasberry filling, they are so fruity and tasty!

This past month has gone by rather quickly and kept me quite busy!
In fact just the day before, I shipped out a number of online orders and finished off a couple of local custom items. It's been hectic though, the people whom I order my fabrics from screwed up a few of my orders and now a lot of the fabrics I was hopeing to get in time for late spring and summer are simply not going to arrive in time

This wont stop me from putting out new designs however. Oh how I wish summer would already be here..with each day I seem to be getting more and more impatient!! I've been wanting to get started on some of my summer collection but not until finals are over

Hello Everyone♡!

I'm so happy to be able to share pictures of the panel that I hosted over at shimakon!
Heres a few pictures of some of the lovely girls that attended!

I gave an Introductory lecture on many styles of Lolita, and then raffled off a Pirate Lolita Outfit that I made, the outfit totaled well over a hundred dollars. The young lady who won the outfit also seemed really happy,
and I cant express how happy that made me(≧o≦)ノ

I'm also excited to say that next year I hope to have my own little spot at the Autumn Market♥ to sell Lolita, Visual, and Oshare clothes that I've created.
